The Pure Life Society (Shuddha Samajam) (PLS) is in a state of silence. Not that the mynahs, spotted doves and magpies have ceased their sweet singing, but because they are all in a state of shock; the wind around them no longer blows the same; the tree branches do not swing as they used to. The loud boisterous squeals and laughter of the PLS residents are so mellowed; you could hear the soft whispers amidst the sombre pin-drop silence.

Talking about Man and religion, human beings in general, are attracted to religion, more for its miracles than the substance contained therein. Hindus are no exception. But, we cannot ignore this part in the human psyche. It is important to build up one’s faith in God. But the human being should not stop at this.
One should be able to go beyond one’s faith and see the oneness in humankind by raising our consciousness to the point of Light within us. Swami Vivekananda, the chief disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, had said in one of his lectures in the States, ‘it’s good to be born in a church but not to die in it’.

The Mind of Man is too limited
Language is too limited
To describe that Great Effulgence.
If you will only allow THAT to flood your life
You will be an embodiment of peace
The peace that passeth all understanding
You can allow it if only you chisel your Being
By accepting all that crosses your path
With a spirit of equal acceptance
Whether it be joyous or sorrowful
Good or evil, praise or blame
Open your heart and mind
In absolute love

If parents play their role well the children's role will fall into place. For example, if the father doesn't love and respect his wife, nothing can work well among the children. If marriage doesn't work out well we can't expect much from their offspring.
It is just like the boss and his secretary, if they can-not work together the whole administration can crumble. So the secretary has to be well chosen and the boss will have to show himself to be an ideal leader, and who the secretary will respect as well.

You see them steadily coming up as heads of governments, corporations, politics, ministries, departments and so on. But, she has always been the uncrowned queen of the home since days of yore.
But there is one thing that woman has to guard herself from, when she is at the top; one, the ego should never be allowed to rear its ugly head and two, she has to preserve her self-respect at all times.

Any ordinary man in the street will realize that we have lagged behind in what we term as progress in spite of the many magnificent structures that we see.
Materialism
Let’s analyze the word materialism. What is material-ism? Is it wealth? Is it riches? Is it abundance? If a nation is blessed with oil reserves can it be called materialism? If one strikes a windfall, can that sudden stroke of luck bring about materialism? Can the abundance that we see around us be called materialism? When a businessman becomes rich through hard work and diligence, is that materialism?
